Ciné-concert
Haceldama is the name of the field acquired by Judas with the thirty pieces of silver given to him by the Romans in exchange for Jesus. It is also the title of the first feature film by Julien Duvivier. Shot in 1919 in the Corrèze region, with the Tours de Merle and the Gimel waterfalls as its backdrop, the film tells a wildly dramatic tale of revenge. All the elements—love, betrayal, and revelations—come together in a way that led critics to describe it as a “Corrèze western.”
On the occasion of the film’s centenary, the Cinémathèque of Nouvelle-Aquitaine commissioned Jean-Philippe Feiss to compose a score for Haceldama, to be performed as a live cinema concert. The music is performed by the musicians of the Sibiel trio, joined by violinist Johan Renard.
THE BATTLE OF THE SOMME
The Battle of the Somme is a documentary made in 1916 by Geoffrey H. Malins and John B. McDowell on behalf of the British Army. The film was intended to boost public morale, but it had the opposite effect: the realism of the footage shot on the front line shocked audiences with its violence. It was indeed the first time the war had been shown in such a way, revealing an unprecedented fusion of man and machinery.
The film combines actual footage from the front with staged reconstructions. By the end of 1916, shortly after the battle itself, around 20 million people had seen it.
Music by Jean-Philippe Feiss, performed by Sibiel.

PITCHIPOÏ
In Drancy, people awaiting deportation used the word “Pitchipoï” to refer to the place where the trains would take them. They knew nothing about their destination, nor about what awaited them.
In this podcast, you can hear the testimonies of four men and three women who survived Auschwitz. These are singular, unique stories in which everyone can find something to relate to.
This podcast was recorded, produced, mixed, and scored by Jean-Philippe Feiss.
